CircuitMaker is a full featured PCB design product that is designed for the open hardware community regardless if the designs are commercial or not.

The product focus also shifted as Altium has software (CircuitStudio and Altium Designer) that serves the commercial community and allows private storage of designs.

Free should be free, so we removed all of the limitations. After much discussion we felt that was the wrong thing to do and a bit deceptive. I am available for C-Level consultationįrom the forum today: Originally we were going to set design limits similar to the free version of Eagle and give users the ability to pay for additional functionality like additional layers, higher component and net count, bigger board area, etc. Anyway, I won't be spending (wasting) any more time playing with circuit maker. One or two man bands who spin a dozen or so boards a year and are willing to pay for something decent but won't get bent over for $3k to do that. And evaporated any support from the tens of thousands of guys like me. Well congrats, next quarter will look rosy with the big element 14 cash but you completely eviscerated your long term success. I suspect you probably scared the shit out of element 14/eagle and they wrote you a big check not to decimate them. It clearly illustrates the complete lack of understanding of current market times and what is driving the "maker" "collaboration" "community" "cloud" "peer to peer". Frankly I am amazed from everything that I have read about altium that they still are in business with all of the abysmal vip decisions. You would have crushed eagle and dip and kicad over night. Not to mention you have given pirates zero incentive to go legit. So the options from altium are free "peer to peer" or $3k with out a sub or whatever arm and leg you charge for AD. I don't spend enough time making boards to justify that kind of cash. If you think I am going to go from "cloud" heaven circuit maker "sharing" to $3000 circuit studio you are smoking crack. If I could have a eagle or diptrace comparable altium light for like-cost I'll give you my credit card. I have given eagle ~$500, I have given diptrace ~$500, Hell I bought circuit maker 2000. It's a shame you wasted so much money on this when it is still borne. Doesn't mean anything to anyone except marketing and upper management. Now nothing can be private and you trouting the corpspeak bullshit "maker", "community" ,"collaboration","cloud" it's all a load of crap.

The only hangup was the no custom part thing but it seemed that was going to get worked out. When I saw the paid for features breakdown I was totally ok with it. Had high hopes Altium could do something decent but as expected it wasn't to be. I've been looking forward to this sense it was announced. "About this title" may belong to another edition of this title.Quote Well that is a deal breaker for me.
